HC nixes cable, internet-screening of 'MBKD'
The court halted the screening of the film on internet or cable on a plea by the film's producer.

New Delhi: All cable operators across the country were on Monday restrained by the Delhi High Court from screening the Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan-starer 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' on cable or internet without proper authorisation from the producer of the film, set for release on September 9.

Justice AK Pathak halted the screening of the film on internet or cable on a plea by film producer Yash Raj Films Private Ltd for restraining all cable operators from copying the film in any format and exhibiting it on any medium, before or soon after its release.

"In my view, the plaintiff (producer) has succeeded in making a prima faciae case in its favour. It has an exclusive copy right over the film 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' which is yet to be released," Justice Pathak said in an order while issuing notices to about 18 cable operators who have been named by the

film producer.

"An ad-interim ex-parte injunction is granted against the defendants (cable operators), their officers, servants and agents restraining them from duplicating, communicating, distributing or releasing the movie in any manner without proper license from the plaintiff," the court also said.

"In case CD and DVDs are made and the film is copied by using any other device and uploaded on interent by cable operators, the plaintiff will suffer irreparable loss," the court observed.
