CHENNAI: Satisfied with the compliance of its orders by the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, the Madras High Court has closed a contempt petition seeking to punish the Registrar and Controller of Examinations (CoE) of the university.Aggrieved over a norm in awarding marks, students of the fourth-year MBBS course moved the court. The first Bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam directed the university to allow them to undergo internship. It was contended that the university had not complied with the direction by not permitting the students to do internship. Hence, the students filed a contempt plea seeking punishment for the Registrar and the CoE.When the matter came up for hearing, registrar Dr R Srilakshmi and CoE Dr K Sivasangeetha filed affidavits stating that the orders of the court were complied with. The bench said: “We are satisfied that the order and directions of this court have been complied with. If the petitioners are aggrieved by any of the decision taken by the university, they are at liberty to challenge the same.”
