HYDERABAD: There was a high drama at Bus Bhavan, the APSRTC headquarters at RTC crossroads, here on Wednesday when police arrested TRS MLA T Harish Rao, party leader Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Congress MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy and Telangana RTC Employees JAC leaders while they were protesting against the removal of 1,350 contract drivers and conductors from work. (The orders were, however, withdrawn later in the day.)
The Telangana RTC JAC leaders, under the leadership of D Anandam and Raji Reddy, were staging a dharna when the political leaders descended on the scene to express their solidarity with the striking employees. They also wanted to tell senior RTC officials the accident had occurred at Yousufguda on account of a nonqualified man driving the city bus and the management had to take the responsibility for it.While the leaders were addressing the strikers, officials asked the police to send about 10 representatives to discuss their demands. The three political leaders joined Anandam and Raji Reddy and went to the Peshi of RTC vicechairman and managing director B Prasda Rao. When they presented a charter of their demands, they were asked to wait a longer, saying Prasada Rao was speaking with officials as well as with transport minister Botcha Satyanarayana.
