Hafiz Saeed was in PoK before soldiers' killing: Shinde
The Union Home Minister said that there would be no rethinking on the visa regime with Pakistan.

New Delhi: Two days after the Pakistani army killed two Indian soldiers near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Thursday said that Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Saeed was recently present in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the basis of intelligence reports.

When asked about the repercussions of the killing of the Indian soldiers after recent movements in the bilateral relationships between the neighbours, the Home Minister said that there would be no rethinking on the visa regime with Pakistan and that it would be carried out.

Shinde further talked about the issue of safety of women, especially in the national capital with regard to the December 16 gangrape incident. Referring to the steps being taken by the police, the Home Minister said that the Delhi Police would increase night patrolling, and that it would be done in bylanes of the city as well.

He also said that committee would be set up at each police station with civil defence personal, home guards, ex-servicemen, women and NGOs to check incidents of crimes against women.

When asked about the alleged late response and laxity on the party of the Delhi Police on December 16, the Home Minister said, "Justice Usha Mehra Commission will decide on the responsibility and accountability of Delhi Police officials in the gangrape case."
