Gurugram: 11-yr-old Girl Among 5 Killed After Crematorium Wall Collapses | Video

An 11-year-old girl was among the five people who were buried alive after a wall of a cremation ground collapsed on them in the Arjun Nagar area in Haryana’s Gurugram on Saturday. Two people were injured in the incident that took place at around 6.20 pm, police said.

A CCTV footage of the incident showed the exact moment the wall collapsed trapping several people underneath the debris. In the video, several residents of the Arjun Nagar colony, whose houses are behind the cremation ground, could be seen sitting on chairs in front of the boundary wall when suddenly it came crashing down.

As many as six people, including two minor girls, were buried under the debris of the 20-foot by 15-foot wall. People standing nearby rushed to their rescue and informed the police.

According to police, the caretaker and management committee members of the Madanpuri cremation ground are on the run. A case of death by negligence has been lodged in the matter.

The injured were rushed to a hospital where four of them — Devi Dayal (70), Krishan (52), Manoj Gaba (41) and the minor girl — were declared dead, police said.

A building collapsed in the Kalyanpuri area of Delhi on Saturday, causing panic among locals as they ran to safety amidst a cloud of dust. Visuals of the incident showed the three-storey structure collapse within seconds. Fortunately, according to police sources, there were no reported injuries.

The police were informed at around 4:00 pm about the building’s poor state in Block 11 of the Kalyanpuri area. Upon arrival, the police immediately evacuated all the occupants of the house.
