New Delhi: For those who grew up in the 1990s, watching a movie with arch rivals Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla would perhaps be unthinkable.
Two decades later producer Anubhav Sinha has managed a casting coup of sorts by casting the reigning Divas of 90s together for a film. Inspired on social activist Sampat Pal's life, debutant director Soumik Sen's 'Gulaab Gang' has Madhuri Dixit playing Rajjo, who along with a gang of spirited women fights injustice in her village. Juhi Chawla plays the shrewd politician who is against Rajjo's growing influence in that area.
While the makers have stated that the film is work of fiction and bears no resemblance to Smapat Pal's character, the activist has alleged that it shows her in bad light.
So is the film really a work of fiction? Is Soumik Sen's film not based on Sampal Pal's 'Gulabi Gang'? Will Madhuri and Juhi's onscreen timing work in favour of the film? Shomini Sen of IBNLive.com was inside the theater to find out.
