New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress-backed Singur Krishijami Bachao Committee took extension of prohibitory orders in Singur for 20 days on Saturday.
It was quoted by news agency PTI as saying that it would draw the attention of the President and th Prime Minister to the West Bengal government's "double standards".
Leader of Opposition Partha Chatterjee, who was addressing a press conference after a meeting of the Committee, said Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee ended her fast following requests by President Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Chatterjee added that the appeals were made on the basis of assurances by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee that no further action would be taken in Singur pending talks with the opposition.
"On one hand, Mamata Banerjee ends her hunger strike and on the other, the government goes ahead with its own agenda in Singur. This cannot be accepted. We will write to the President and the Prime Minister about the double standards of the state government," he was quoted as saying.
Chatterjee accused the state government of misleading people on the Singur issue and said Committee would organise awareness campaigns on Singur from January three to nine.
The Committee has started the process of forming its state and district-level units to consolidate its movement, he said.
The Youth Trinamool Congress will organise a rally on January two at Metro Channel, the spot where Banerjee was on fast for 25 days, to press its demands related to the Singur issue.
