HYDERABAD: Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday cleared the names of vice-chancellors for five universities from a panel of three names each submitted by the government and orders have been issued to this effect.However, he reportedly rejected all the names proposed for the vice-chancellor’s post at JNTU-Anantapur. JNTU-Kakinada Gaddam Tulasi Ram Das has become the second vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTU-K). Currently, Das is working as registrar of JNTU-Hyderabad. He will succeed Prof Allam Appa Rao whose three-year term ended on August 20 this year.Born on December 15, 1960 in Malakpet of Hyderabad district, Tulasi Ram Das obtained his Ph.D in electrical engineering from IIT, Madras in 1996. Das held various positions during his 26-year long career and worked as convener of ECET (FDH & B.Sc., (Maths)) 2009-2011. He is a recipient of various awards including the state government’s best teacher award in 2009. He is a fellow of several noted organisations of engineers from different disciplines.Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore Prof G Rajarami Reddy, who is currently working as professor in the Department of Zoology at Sri Venkateswara University, has been appointed vicechancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University. The 55-year-old gold medalist from Sri Venkateswara University would serve as vice-chancellor for a three year term.During his 32 years of academic experience, Rajarami Reddy held various positions. He specialises in neuroscience, toxicology and pharmacology. His research papers were published in several national and international science journals of repute. He also received numerous awards and fellowships from eminent organisation in India and abroad.Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur K Ramakrishna Reddy, a professor of management studies at Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of the same university. Born in Kadiri of Anantapur district on June 1, 1952, Ramakrishna Reddy did his BA from SGS Arts College affiliated to SV University in Tirupati in 1973. He obtained his PhD from SKU in 1990.Ramakrishna Reddy joined SKU as lecturer in 1979 and served in various positions like head of department and chairman for Board of Studies in Sri Krishnadevaraya Institute of Management Studies in the university. He was also member of the executive council of SKU and also its finance committee apart from serving as chief regional convener of ICET.Rayalaseema University, Kurnool K Krishna Naik, a professor of history in Sri Krishnadevaraya University, has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Rayalaseema University in Kurnool.Born on April 18, 1960 in Sugalimitta Tanda in Panyam mandal of Kurnool district, he did his MA in history from Anantapur in 1983 and got a PhD from SKU in 1992. He worked as assistant professor in SKU from 1985 to 92 and went on to hold various coveted posts including the director of Directorate of Admissions, member of Academic Senate, member of Academic Planning and Development Council, and the Centre for Social Exclusion and Inclusion Policy.He was also additional coordinator of PG exams and Joint Secretary of AP History Congress.JNTU-Hyderabad Prof Rameshwar Rao is the new vice-chancellor of JNTU-Hyderabad. Well-known for his academic experience, Rameshwar Rao is currently working in the department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at the Osmania University College of Engineering where he pursued his Electronics and Communications Engineering. He completed his post graduation and also Ph.D from IIT-Mumbai. Rameshwar Rao specialised in digital communication, VLSI design, mobile cellular communication, computer networks, and digital design. He held various positions during his academic career and was the convener of PGECET. He is the recipient of several awards and his research papers were published in many reputed national and international journals.
