KOCHI: The LPG companies on Thursday welcomed the instructions given by the District Supply Officer to provide refills to customers after 21 days of booking. The authorities believe that this will help reduce the complaints on cooking gas distribution to a considerable extent."Normally, we give new connections within four days in the cities. In rural areas, it will take some more time," Manoj K, territory manager, LPG, BPCL, said. "But the agencies ask the customers to wait for at least 21 days, that is from the date of previous booking, for a refill. That is not a mandatory rule. A person can book the cylinder and get it according to his requirement," he said.Manoj said that why some agencies insist on this is due to the non-availability of empty cylinders. "Some people book for a refill after three to four days of the previous booking.” “In such cases, if the cylinders are provided in two-three days, they will not be able to give empty cylinders back," he said. Manoj said that in some households, the gas cylinder will be empty in just 15 days instead of the usual 30 days. "If it is a genuine case, it won't be a problem to provide a refill within 21 days," he said.
