GENBAND's India ops to spearhead multimedia apps innovation
GENBAND Inc today formally announced the launch of its operations in India.

June 27, 2007, New Delhi, India: GENBAND Inc, a market-leading developer of next-generation IP gateways and application solutions, today formally announced the launch of its operations in India. The Company also discussed the strategic importance of India as a multimedia applications innovation hub for GENBAND worldwide. GENBAND’S multimedia applications software is currently being developed out of the research & development facility in Noida. The facility employs 77 engineers from premier engineering schools in India. The two key software products currently being developed and/or supported here in the GENBAND India facility include:

The M5 Multimedia Applications Server – M5 Multimedia Applications Server allows fixed, cable, and mobile customers to deploy a variety of valuable, highly scalable, next generation multimedia services. This product enables service providers to offer a suite of services like Unified messaging, Next Generation IN, Pre Paid and Multi Media Services. Over 90% of this has been developed in India. Currently this product is deployed at some of the leading telecom service providers including Deutsche Telekom AG, Softbank BB Corp & AT&T Inc.

C2 Signaling Controller – C2 Signalling Controller is a device for connecting SIP networks to legacy SS7 networks and databases. Simply put, the product enables transition of services from legacy networks to next generation networks. All future developments, upgrades in the platform will be driven from the India facility. The platform is currently being pilot tested by some of the leading service providers worldwide.

Globally, the service provider VoIP and multimedia equipment market is estimated to reach $7 billion by 2010.
