New Delhi: The victim of the brutal gangrape in a private chartered bus in the capital is communicating through writing, the doctors at the hospital to which she was admitted said on Tuesday. The victim, a 23-year-old paramedical student from Dehra Dun, remains critical and on ventilator support in the ICU of Safdarjung Hospital.

Doctors say that she was operated upon on Sunday but it will be another week or so before she fully recovers. "Her condition is better than yesterday. Her conscious level is much better than yesterday's. She underwent a surgery on Sunday," Dr BD Athani, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said.

He told PTI that the victim will be kept under "close observation" by doctors for the next 48 to 72 hours as the nature of injuries inflicted on her are as such. Athani said doctors are reviewing her case periodically so that she gets best of the treatment. He said the girl's conscious level is much better than a day before and that she is under continuous treatment.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have arrested four people, including the bus driver, in connection with the case.
