New Delhi: After playing the magical Harry Potter for 11 years, Daniel Radcliffe is stepping away from his boy wizard persona to play a widowed lawyer in his next film 'The Woman in Black'. The 22-year-old actor said in an interview that the upcoming horror film is the real test of his acting skills.

"For many people, this will be a test of my skills and will help me break off from the childlike image of mine. I am playing older than my age and have worked on my looks as well. It was a huge transition indeed. I feel like I've landed on my feet with this being the first thing after Harry Potter," Radcliffe told PTI in an email interview.

In 'The Woman in Black', a James Watkins directed horror-thriller film, based on Susan Hill's novel of the same name, Radcliffe plays a father who comes to a village to discover a series of inexplicable incidents.

Radcliffe is eager to visit the 'ghost' town of Bhangarh in India's Rajasthan state.

"As a preparation for the movie, I was reading a lot of books and in Google about ghosts. I came across this place in India called Bhangarh," said Radcliffe. "I wish I could personally visit the place and live my role of Arthur Kipps in real," he added.

The film tells the story of Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), a widowed lawyer, who leaves his son in London to settle the legal affairs of the recently deceased Alice Drablow. But upon his arrival, it soon becomes clear that everyone in the town is keeping a deadly secret.

Although the townspeople try to keep Kipps away from learning their tragic history, he discovers that the house that belongs to his client is haunted by the ghost of a woman, who wants to find someone and something she lost.

Asked if he believes in ghosts, Radcliffe said: "I am an atheist and that means I look for logic and not just blindly believe in things that I see happening around me. So believing just in gods and ghosts is not enough an explanation."

The movie marks the return of Radcliffe to the big screen after the end to the Harry Potter saga. The movie hits the theaters on February 17th.
