ALUVA: Fr Ignatius OFMCap gained an immemorial position in the modern development of Aluva, said Excise Minister K Babu here on Sunday. The minister was inaugurating the valedictory function of the year-long birth centenary celebrations of Fr Ignatius.Fr Ignatius was a social and cultural leader, and contributed immensely in the fields of education, sports and welfare of the downtrodden. He was a great visionary who has taken care of people from all sections of society irrespective of their religion. He was always in the forefront to console the suffering. He put the Christian message into practice throughout his life, the minister said.Faith and love go together. Those social leaders who do not have genuine faith and love are only pretending that they are helping the people. Fr Ignatius was a model priest for all social workers, Bishop Mar Joseph Powathil said, while delivering the keynote address.
