NEENDAKARA(KOLLAM): Hundreds of people from the fishing community in the Neendakara-Sakthikulangara region waited for the return of ‘St Antony,’ the boat which had set sail from the Neendakara Harbour on February 7.However, unlike normal days, instead of a rich catch they were expecting the mortal remains of two of their fellow fishermen killed in the deep sea. The boat finally reached the shore at 10.46 pm carrying the bodies of two of its crew members killed by gunshots from an Italian ship. The 11-member crew of St Antony set sail for fishing from the harbour here a week ago. The owner and ‘Srank’ of St Antony, Freddy of Kollam, said that other nine members were sleeping when the incident happened, as they were fishing with baits during night.“One of the killed was on the steering and the other fellow was around. I woke up hearing the sounds only to find that the two were bathed in blood,” said a visibly-shaken Freddy. He said that they could not identify the ship or understand what had happened. According to him the incident occurred around 4.30 pm. Moses, a major auctioneer at the harbour and a relative of Freddy, said that those killed were hailing from Tamil Nadu. Selestian has been settled in Moothakkara. The relatives of the duo back home had been informed about the incident.
