New Delhi: Bihar's Vaishali district administration has registered an FIR against former Chief Minister Rabri Devi for violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
The District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer, Sanjiv Hans said on Thursday that the FIR had been registered because Rabri Devi came to file her nomination for the Raghopur Assembly seat on October 4 in a convoy of over 30 vehicles.
?Loudspeakers and local bands of musicians were used in Rabri Devi?s procession for which prior permission was not obtained,? he said.
Hans has also ordered the suspension of an Executive Magistrate and the Inspector of Mahua police station for allowing RJD president Lalu Prasad to use a vehicle without a number plate.
The Mahua police station has been asked to register an FIR against the RJD nominee for Mahua, Shivchandra Ram, who owned the vehicle, for violation of election code.
Lalu Prasad Yadav used the vehicle while going from the helipad to an election rally at in Mahua recently.
Hans stated that the officers in-charge of Rajapakar, Jurawanpur, Desri and Patepur police stations have been removed and asked to report at Vaishali police lines for not strictly enforcing the provisions of the model code.
An election 'rath' of the UPA has also been seized for moving in the district without prior permission, Hans said.
