Factional feud behind partys passive stance
Factional feud behind partys passive stance

The apparent passive stand of the CPM district leadership in the conduct of Payyoli Manoj murder case, in which all the accused are CPM activists, appears to be the result of the ongoing factional fued within the party.

Sources said the protracted dissonance of the accused with the party’s official faction on various issues and their apparent affinity towards the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) are the reasons behind such a stand.

While the party has been leaving no stone unturned to protect its men who are accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, Ariyial Shukkoor case and Mohammed Fasal case, it took more than 80 days for the accused in the Payyoli Manoj murder case to move a bail application. Thus, in many ways, party’s approach towards both case have been different.

Sources maintained that the accused in the case belong to the pro-VS faction. “As the gap between the official and VS faction widened of late, there emerged a common feeling among members of the official faction not to actively involve in this case,” the sources said.

Significantly, the official faction also doubts whether the CPM activists, who are involved in the case, would join RMP in the near future. Being members of the pro-VS faction, these members have been maintaining a soft stance towards the Revolutionary Marxist Party. Besides, the family members and relatives of the accused also learnt to have approached the RMP recently seeking help.

“Hence, official faction does not turn down the chances of these men leaving the party and joining the Revolutionary Marxist Party,” sources added.
