KOCHI: The members of Fertilizers And Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT) Retired Employees Organisation have threatened to go on an indefinite fast next month in case the management fails to pay them their wage revision arrears immediately. According to Devasi Kutty Padayattil, president, Retired Employees Organisation, retired employees are bearing the brunt of the management’s callousness. “Most of the retired employees are yet to receive the revised arrears since the Pay Revision of 1987,” he said. “In the past, the company had promised all the benefits to us, however, they have failed to fulfil their promises. If the company is undergoing financial constraints, we demand that all employees who retired on or before March 31 2002, should get their pay in lump sum and those who retired after 2002 and before July 31, 2008, should get it in two or three instalments,” Devasi said.Besides, the Pay Revision arrears, the members are yet to receive medical benefits, dearness allowance etc from the company. The members have also alleged that the company had fudged the figures to show losses where company made profits. “The State Government had issued directives that all those companies that have gained financially for the three consecutive years have to pay the revised pension arrears due to its former employees. In order to avoid this huge responsibility, FACT has shown false figures to the government,” alleged the members of the FACT Retired Employees Organisation. “If our demands are not met, we will stage an indefinite strike in front of the office in June,” Devasi added.
