KOCHI: Expressing concern over the cracks developed in the Mullaperiyar dam after a low intensity tremor rocked some parts of Idukki district on Friday, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the government would take future course of action on the basis of the report from the expert team constituted by the State. “A team of officials led by Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishanan will visit Mullaperiyar dam on Sunday,” he told reporters during the Chief Minister’s mass contact programme held here on Saturday. “There is nothing to panic but it is being viewed seriously. The State will approach Tamil Nadu and the Supreme Court after the report is received,” he said. When contacted the Revenue Minister, he said the report would be submitted on Monday. CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has also been asked to be part of the team, he said. The team would consist of officials from the State Disaster Management, Revenue Department, scientists from Centre for Earth Science Studies, MLAs and MPs.
