Khabarovsk (RUSSIA): While elections come up in Pakistan soon, Russia's remote far-east has already started voting in sub-zero temperatures for a new parliament.

More than 10 crore Russians are eligible to vote in the forthcoming election which is widely being seen as a referendum on President Vladimir Putin. His United Russia party is tipped to win an overwhelming victory.

However, opposition parties have accused the government of intimidation.

Allegations that the poll could be rigged are rampant.
