Following criticism from devotees over the decision not to accept saree offerings, Kanaka Durga temple authorities have withdrawn the new rule and announced that sarees will be accepted, but only in specific colours.
According to the authorities, sarees will be accepted in orange and brown colours for Balatripura Sundari, blood red for Gayatri Devi, yellow for Annanapurna Devi, blue for Mahalakshmi, white with thick red border and mustard yellow for Lalitha Devi, tomato red for Durga, chilli red for Mahishasuramardhini, and green or orange for Rajarajeshwari. This was announced by temple executive officer M Raghunath at a media conference on Indrakeeladri here on Saturday.
Authorities had decided not to accept saree earlier, but the decision drew flak from devotees.
