CHENNAI: In the wake of the large percentage of UG medical students in colleges attached to the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University failing in their semester exams, Vice-Chancellor Dr Mayilvahanan Natarajan said they were looking at introducing a system of dual-evaluation soon. Announcing the varsity’s upcoming convocation, Natarajan said that this system of having an answer script evaluated by two objective evaluators was already being followed for PG students and could well be introduced for the under-graduates soon. He also mentioned that with regard to the existing rule that a student who failed would not be able to continue the next year, he had written to the MCI to amend the regulations. With a view to providing a system that would give medical students flexibility similar to that of arts and sciences students, he said that he was yet to receive a reply from the MCI.Natarajan also announced that the medical varsity’s 22nd convocation would be held on November 3 at the MU Centenary Auditorium.
