BHUBANESWAR: Has the Odisha Government struck a secret deal with the CPI (Maoist) to secure the release of Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka? If sources are to be believed, the Government has used its partymen’s connection to get a bargain from Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha (CMAS).The list of 27 announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had names of 15 members of CMAS. If one takes into account Nachika Suka, the number of the tribals rises to 16. Of the 27 names, 16 alone belong to CMAS and some of them are kin of none other than Nachika Linga, head of the outfit.Since CMAS enjoys massive influence in Narayanpatna region of Koraput, sources added that the Government is believed to have worked out a list that Nachika Linga will find hard to reject. In all this, some BJD leaders of the Southern Odisha who enjoy good rapport with the rebel leaders stated to have come in handy. The State Government would now wait for the response of the Maoists on release of Hikaka. On the other hand, the Italian national Paolo Bosusco’s fate too will be known once the Odisha State Organising Committee of CPI (Maoist) responds to names announced by the Government.By including Subhashree Panda in the list, the Government may have tried to please Sabyasachi Panda, her husband.
