London: The owner of the Mercedes car in which Diana, Princess Of Wales, died is suing cops to get the wreck back - so he can sell it for millions.

Frenchman Jean Francois Musa has begun a legal battle to get the limo shipped back to France. He is also demanding compensation for the nine years British police have kept it while investigating Princess Diana's death.

The mangled car was shipped from Paris to England after the tragic crash on 31 August, 1997, for vital tests.

Musa, whose limo company rented out the car, said, it was as iconic as the car in which film star James Dean died.

"It is an exceptional wreck - like the one James Dean died in. We were told it was worth at least £1 million. It belongs to us. At first I was thinking it should have been given to Mohamed al Fayed because his son, Dodi, died in it,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

"Then I thought maybe it should be put in a museum. Now I want to sell it. We've been told a lot of people would pay a fortune for the wreck. We have never had any firm inquiries about it, but people have spoken to me about how much it could be worth," he added.

Al Fayed is convinced that his son and Princess Di were murdered by British secret service on the instructions of the Royal Family. He claimed that Diana was pregnant, and the British establishment did not want her to give birth to a Muslim baby.
