TALCHER/DHENKANAL: Notwithstanding the claims by the Health Department of taking all measures to combat dengue, the disease has spread to Angul after gripping almost whole of Talcher block. Yet another person died of alleged dengue symptoms in Kalinga Hospital in Bhubaneswar on Monday night. Pradip Sahoo, a native of Mahabir Road under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district, was working in a private company in Talcher and was suffering from fever for the last five days. Sahoo was admitted to MCL Central Hospital where he tested positive and had to be referred to SCB Medical, Cuttack, and later to Kalinga Hospital in the capital. Dhenkanal CDMO Bishnu Charan Behera said that three mobile health units had been sent to Kankadahada and Parjang blocks while District Red Cross Rapid Response Team has been asked to create awareness among school and college students about dengue and its preventive measures. Four persons of Dhenkanal district who have tested positive have been shifted to SCB Medical, he added.Sources said scores of people in Talcher and Angul districts are under treatment at several private hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.On Tuesday, 15 suspected cases of dengue were referred to other hospitals during the visit of State Joint Director of Health RN Nath to MCL Central Hospital. Angul CDMO Rabindra Behera exuded confidence to check spread of the disease in the next few days. Claiming that dengue cases have come down, he said smoke fogging had been undertaken on a massive scale in the dengue-hit areas. Meanwhile, Talcher MLA Braj Kishore Pradhan met the Health Secretary and demanded dengue testing facilities at Talcher.
