CHENNAI: The police arrested three chain snatchers, who waylaid women on the streets and robbed them of their ornaments, and recovered 30 sovereigns of gold jewellery from them. A Sathish alias ‘Kallarai’ Sathish (26), Kavi alias T Kaviarasu (26), both from Padi, and Mahi alais Venkatesan were caught and jewels worth Rs 5 lakh recovered. Eighty huts guttedAround 80 huts were gutted at Kakanji Nagar in ICF on Saturday. The fire broke out in a hut when a spark from a firewood allegedly ignited the thatched structure. Four fire vehicles and five tenders fought the flames. There were no casualties or injuries.
