BHUBANESWAR: Two officers of Khandagiri police station foiled a burglary attempt at a bank in the wee hours of Wednesday. The two cops, however, were injured in the process.Two burglars have been held and police are interrogating them. The police officers who sustained knife injuries have been admitted to a private hospital.The incident took place near Kolathia at a branch of Bank of Baroda. Some locals spotted two persons attempting to break open the locks and informed the police station. Sub-Inspector PC Mohanty and Assistant Sub-Inspector Sarada Patro rushed to the spot since the patrol team was away at a different place. The two officers found the burglars on the first floor of the building and took on them. In the process of overpowering them, the cops were injured as the miscreants attacked them with knife and iron rods. Once the full police team reached the spot, the two burglars were nabbed.Police were surprised to find the bank without illumination and a security guard. No CCTV was installed either. Two cases have been registered.
