THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday said that the Congress party had always worked for the well-being of scheduled castes and ensured that SC candidates got deserving positions in administrative front in the party. He was inaugurating the public meeting organised by Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha (KPMS) in connection with the centenary celebrations of Ayyankali’s inclusion to Praja Sabha of Sreemoolam Thirunal, the erstwhile ruler of Travancore. Chandy also said that the party would continue its efforts to uplift the scheduled caste people. The celebrations opened on Monday with a seminar on ‘100 Years of Presence of Under Privileged in Power’. The seminar was inaugurated by CPI state secretary C K Chandrappan. In the afternoon, KPMS took out a rally from Putharikandam Maidan to Chandrasekharan Nair stadium, in which hundreds took part.
