THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress in the state is organisationally unique as there is no other unit across the country which is so vibrant and committed, according to Madhusudan Mistry, AICC general secretary in charge of  Kerala.Addressing the special convention of party workers organised by the District Congress Committee as a prelude to the full state plenary session to be held here in August, Mistry also said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was the only CM in the country who had beamed the functioning of  his office online. The UDF Government under Chandy is committed to implement the promises given to the people in the election manifesto, he added. Unlike the CPM and the left parties which have an imported ideology, the  Congress has an indigenous ideology. The UPA Government under the stewardship of Manmohan Singh and guidance of Sonia Gandhi has brought a real change and never tolerated corruption, he claimed and ridiculed the CPM and BJP for speaking differently in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and even more differently from state to state. Mistry asked party men and leaders to desist from airing differences in the organisation in public as it will only aggravate the issue. “Never  speak any contentious issues to the media. Talk to the leaders,” he advised and felt that the strength of the party unit is quite amazing, pointing to the teeming party workers at the meet. Inaugurating the event earlier, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the opposition parties, be it the BJP at the Centre or the CPM and others in the states, were a confused lot now.“Both the BJP and the CPM will lose their address. The 2G episode is born from a policy laid by the BJP. As for the CPM, the party is rocked by internal schism. The CPM can save itself only of it shed its anti-people, arrogant and violent stand,” he said.“By resorting to lap the last weapon like `photos will not work as the people will reject it,” he reminded, referring to the controversy of display of the ‘portrait of Christ.’KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that the UDF Government under Ommen Chandy symbolised the hopes and aspirations of the people and all had a responsibility to live up to it. District Congress Committee acting president Jerome presided over the meet. KPCC former president Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, Transport Minister V S Sivakumar, MPs Shashi Tharoor and M I Shanavaz, MLAs Palode Ravi, M A  Vahid and Varkala Kahar, KPCC vice-president Thalekunnil Basheer and others were present.
