Hyderabad: Close on the heels of a controversy involving Congress MP M Jagannath for slapping a banker, another ruling party legislator has landed in row for allegedly manhandling a staff of a local supermarket.
An MLA from Secunderabad Cantoment Area, P Shanker Rao, along with a Food and Civil Supplies officials went to a supermarket under his constituency in Hyderabad on Monday night to check the prices of red gram and other food items.

However, Rao rebutted the allegations. The MLA said he had visited the supermarket to verify on the alleged hoarding of essential commodities and found that it was selling food items at high prices.
Meanwhile, RS floor leader in the State Assembly E Rajender condemned the incident and said "this kind of behaviour of Congress representatives would send a wrong message among the public."
Last month, M Jagannath, a Congress MP from Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha constituency, had created a stir by allegedly slapping a bank manager in Mahabubnagar district for not releasing loan amounts to SC/ST beneficiaries.
The MP later apologised for the incident.
