COMED-K: PG counselling completed

BANGALORE: Amidst the commotion of seat selection and court stay orders, the postgraduate medical and dental seats were selected by candidates in both the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) here on Tuesday.As many as 194 dental seats were selected by the candidates in the second round of counselling with just one dental seat remaining and 12 students surrendered their dental seats.In the final round of counselling for medical seats, only 20 seats remained vacant.As many as 44 candidates surrendered their medical seats, during the seat selection process and 353 students were allotted postgraduate seats in the various private institutions across the state.Speaking about the final counselling round, chief executive of COMED-K A S Shrikant said that the process went on smoothly.COMED-K had received a High Court order to redo the seat selection process after a few students approached the court over the denial of the seats due to faulty DDs or cheques. However, the court stayed the previous order and has sought a response from COMED-K on or before May 30.Meanwhile, the RGUHS scrapped the final counselling round, after 18 medical seats were surrendered by students and held a fresh final seat selection process on May 29.
