CHENNAI: The honorary title of Colonel was conferred upon Dr Jeppiar by NCC Directorate (TN, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands) at a commissioning ceremony in Sathyabhama University on Tuesday. “Today, if students of Sathyabama University are dedicated to social work, it’s because of the motivation and support provided by Dr Jeppiar,” said Commodore Sartaj Imam, Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate, at the ceremony. Dr Jeppiar said since army personnel sacrifice their life for the nation, it was the citizen’s duty to support them. He added that his college, Sathyabama University, offered 10 seats for the children of war veterans and widows and urged educational institutions and industries to come forward to contribute for the welfare of the Army personnel.
