TUMKUR: Karnataka Soaps and Detergent Limited’s (KSDL) Indian International sandal soap, ‘millennium’ will be released on January 17, 2012.Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will release the 150 gram soap costing Rs 720 apiece in the presence of international model Masha of UK at Hotel Sheraton in Bangalore.There are many imported soaps in the Indian market which are not affordable to the middle class as they cost upwards of Rs 2,000, claimed GM (marketing) D N Vasanthakumar. The Indian International ‘millennium’ has contains moisturisers and perfumes, whose fragrance will last a day, he promised. KSDL MD Baladevakrishna said that the response to the ‘soap santhe’ across the state was overwhelming. The event held across the state resulted in KSDL earning an income to the tune of Rs 75 lakh, Baladevakrishna informed.In Tumkur, the KSDL has already netted sales of Rs 12 lakh in three days and has six more days to go. Consumers were less aware of other products such as cleaning agents, baby cosmetics, incense sticks and detergents, and the events had created the necessary awareness, he said.
