SHIMOGA: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa announced that the government would release Rs 50 lakh more for the Kuvempu Nirantara Project, a sophisticated mobile unit which will travel across the state, highlighting the life and works of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu.After flagging off the Kuvempu Nirantara Project in Shimoga on Wednesday, the CM said he would direct the officials to ensure the project reached people across the state.He said his government is committed to conserving the Kannada language and culture.The government has allocated Rs 200 crore in the budget for the Department of Kannada and Culture and Rs 50 crore towards linguistic status, besides encouraging those who have qualified in the civil services examination in Kannada medium by providing an incentive of Rs 1 lakh, he added.A sum of `1 crore has been sanctioned towards establishing the Poornachandra Tejaswi Research Centre, he added.“The government accepted the poem Jayabharata of Kuvempu as Nadageethe (state anthem) and honoured the works of great poet Kuvempu,” said Yeddyurappa.By setting up the Sahyadri Heritage Authority, the government has given special attention towards the development of Shimoga, Chikmagalur districts. The government has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the authority, he added.He advised all politicians to purchase and read the works of Kuvempu.Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Pratishthana, Kuppali president Hampa Nagarajaiah spoke and litterateur Lakkappa Gowda welcomed the gathering.Agri Investors Meet in BangaloreThe CM said that a global agri investors meet would be held in Bangalore within the next two-three months.He stated that this meet would help give scientific price to agricultural produce.
