Mumbai: Hollywood actor-director George Clooney turned out to be the biggest crowd puller with his political thriller 'Ides of March' at the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival (MFF).

The last show of the day, the film began at 8 pm yesterday, but movie buffs started queueing up at 6. Despite that, many had to be turned away due to unavailability of seats.

The film, starring Clooney and Ryan Gosling, is based on a play by Beau Willimon and takes place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary. Gosling plays an idealist young press secretary, who is soon pulled into the dirty world of politics, where nothing is what it seems.

The title refers to the day Roman statesman Julius Caesar was assassinated.

It is Clooney's fourth film as a director after 2002 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind', 'Good Night and Good Luck' and 'Leatherheads'.
