KOCHI: A team led by Mayor Tony Chammany visited the Ukkadam plant in Coimbatore to study and find whether the model will help set up a new waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram.
The Ukkadam plant is situated on 180 acres of land. It has a capacity to handle 560 million tonnes of waste a day. The Mayor told 'Express' that a decision on whether to follow the same technology in Brahmapuram will be taken soon. "We will have a discussion in this regard at the Council meeting. After getting a nod from the council, we will proceed with the decision. Besides the Mayor, the team included Corporation secretary Ajith Patil and Town Planning Standing Committee chairman K J Sohan.
