Aizawl: A Mizo citizen registered a complaint with the state Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) against Chief Minister Zoramthanga for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The ACB allegedly recieved the complaint from one Lalnunmawia of Armed Veng locality in the state capital on September 22, stating the total known sources of income of Zoramthanga during 1999-2003, would have been Rs 15,30,000, but the affidavit filed by him before the 2003 assembly elections said he had assets worth Rs 47,72,378.
The complaint stated, the assets (Rs 47,72,378) as declared by Zoramthanga is disproportionate to his known source of income (Rs 2,010,60,00), the discrepancy is of Rs 27,61,778 and is liable to be prosecuted under section 13 (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Superintendent of Police, ACB, K Ammon confirmed the complaint and said they have taken steps as stipulated by the law.
"It is true a complaint has been received by the ACB about assets disproportionate to source of income of the Chief Minister and asked the government of Mizoram about it," Ammon added.
