CISF seeks time to hand over its 9 jawans to police allegedly involved in karipur airport clash

Kozhikode: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) authorities on Wednesday sought time till June 20 to hand over nine of their personnel allegedly involved in the recent clash between the central armed personnel and AAI employees at the airport here, that left a jawan dead.

Police had on Tuesday asked the CISF to hand over the nine personnel to them by 10 AM on Wednesday.

"They have sought time till Saturday to handover the nine personnel," Kondotty Circle Inspector B Santosh, who is the investigating officer in the case, said.

He, however, did not state the reason cited by CISF for seeking more time.

Four CISF jawans and 10 Airports Authority of India (AAI) staff have so far been arrested in connection with the June 10 clash over a dispute on security clearance of AAI staff that led to the death of a jawan when a gun went off accidentally in the melee.
