Chennai: Awards for motivators behind differently-abled
Awards were presented to 10 individuals who had contributed towards the development of the differently-abled.

Chennai: Ascendas, a business space provider, and the Tamil Nadu Differently-Abled Federation Charitable Trust (TNDAFC), came together for the sixth consecutive year to present awards to 10 individuals who had contributed to the development of the differently-abled, at the Ascendas Excellence Awards 2012 held recently.

From Rita Mary, a disability rehabilitation expert, M Sareswathy, who supported her daughter through her physical disability to become a sportsperson, to M Rama Suresh, who trained several differently-abled people who went on to become national role models and State awardees — these people who helped the differently-abled to soar to great heights were felicitated. The awardees included parents, teachers and associations who supported these special achievers and helped them become proud members of society.

TN Director General of Police M K Ramanujam, who was the chief guest, gave away the prizes along with Chidambaranathan, president of TNDAFC. Ramanujam said, “Behind every person there is a catalyst, motivating them to perform better and helping them along the way. The people behind these differently-abled achievers deserve recognition, for they were the catalysts behind their success.”

Thomas Teo, CEO of Acendas India Operations, congratulated the awardees and said that he hoped that the awards would motivate them further to bring out the best in them.
