Bhubaneswar: The FIH Men's Champions Trophy being played here will see India take on the red army of Belgium in the quarter-finals that were decided on Tuesday after the pool stage came to a close with the hosts registering their first win of the tournament - 3-2 against the Netherlands.
The win pushed India up a place in Pool B to finish at third place with 3 points, pushing Germany to the fourth spot on goal difference (GD). India ended with a GD of -2 as opposed to Germany's -5.
The hosts will be up against undefeated Belgium now in the quarters. The Belgians finished second in Pool A with 5 points after a draw in their final league game against England on Monday.
The Netherlands, meanwhile, finished No. 1 in Pool B despite their first defeat of the tournament on Tuesday. They pushed Argentina to No. 2 on GD. The Dutch team will now face an out-of-sorts and winless Pakistan, who lost to Australia 3-0 on Monday, in the last-eight stage that will be played on Dec 11 after a rest day on Wednesday.
Defending champions Australia will take on Pool B runners-up Argentina and Germany will be up against Pool A toppers England.
