New Delhi: It is that time of the year again. Yes, the much awaited class 12 results are just out. IBNLive interacted with a few students who appeared for the board examinations this year to get an idea about their future plans and what courses they are opting for.
A huge shift from the general trend was noticed. The majority now, seems to have lost interest in the stereotypical engineering, medical or CA/CPT fields. Today, the world has a lot more to offer and the youths are ready to grab every opportunity that comes their way.
Vedanshi Murarka plans to pursue a career in economics and is confident of getting into a good Delhi University college for economics honours. Another student, Armaan Talreja, is determined to study abroad and has made it into a college in the United States.
Anumita Dutta, a student from Kolkata, shared, "Today, students are not just confined to one thing. They have an array of options to choose from. So, people from all walks of life are ready to take admission with any course as long as it is a good DU college which further pushes up the competition levels."
On the contrary, we also came across students like Anukshi Mittal, who believe that, "Unlike my other friends, I am more persistent on pursuing the course of my choice in the best college I can get through. The course is more important to me than just the name of the college. Considering the broader perspective, I do not wish to be stuck in a course that I dislike and in which I cannot continue further studies."
With the competition levels soaring high, this time too we will witness innumerable students striving to fulfill their dreams and hoping that their endeavours and dedication will pay off. It is interesting to see that students and their parents are now ready to explore various career options and are willing to choose colleges not only on the basis of a good academic course but also keeping in mind extra-curricular activities. This indeed is a very welcome change.
