THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Demanding that the Centre should take immediate steps to check the incessant price rise of chemical fertilizers, the Swathanthra Karshaka Sangam is taking out a march to the Parliament on November 30, said C Moyinkutty MLA, state president of the Sangham, in a press meet here on Friday. He said that the farmers used chemical fertilizers more during the months of October and November. Adding to their worries, the government has also cut short the quota of fertilizers allocated for these months. The quota must be increased, the Sangham demanded. Price rise during these months too is unaffordable to farmers, they stated.Apart from this, the Sangham has also demanded that all districts in Kerala should be included in the food security project and that a special fund should be formulated to alleviate the crisis in the agricultural sector. The Sangham also requested the government to implement the Kuttanad package with immediate effect after avoiding all unnecessary allegations surrounding it.Sorting out the problems of the farmers of ‘kole’ fields in Northern Kerala and the allocation of more assistance from Centre to make agriculture extensive are also among their demands.
