After the heavyweight intervention, both the businessman and the cash was allegedly let off by CISF and IT officials.

A Munger-based businessman, A Singh, travelling alone in a chartered Jet was apprehended at the Dimapur airport for allegedly carrying Rs 3.5 crore in demonetised currency on Tuesday afternoon.

The cash was discovered by the CISF personnel during the search and then IT officials came in to count the money.

The entire money amounting to around Rs 3.5 crore was in Rs 500 and 1000 denomination.

But that's when this story gets interesting. When the businessman was caught, he claimed he has business links with ex-MP Khekiho Zimomis's son Anato.

Meanwhile, Anato himself came to the airport to handle the issue.

After the heavyweight intervention, both the businessman and the cash was allegedly let off by CISF and IT officials.

Dimapur Commissioner, miffed with the businessman getting away, summoned both CISF and IT officials and initiated an enquiry into what happened to the cash.

But since political heavyweights were involved none of the agencies are willing to reveal any details on record.
