BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Siddaiah has directed officials to impose Rs 1 lakh cost on the violators impeding smooth flow of pedestrian movement in Mamdan Block.
He supervised intensive cleaning works in Malleshwaram on Thursday, and observed that construction debris was dumped on the footpath by the builders of an under construction commercial complex. He also directed the Telegu Vignana Samithi and Vyalikaval Educational institution, who were carrying out activities on BBMP leased land, to implement Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) in their premises. The Palike warned to cancel the licence if they do not implement RWH, and added RWH should be implemented where ever possible. Inspections were held on buildings in Sankey Tank Bund, Margosa Road, Vyalikaval playground and officials were told to implement RWH in all possible locations.
