BANGALORE: “I realise that we do not deserve Bangalore School of Economics. It is the last of it that we will hear,” said Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev, a day after the Sitaram Jindal Foundation pulled out of the much-talked-about Bangalore School of Economics (BSE) owing to cries of foul raised by several members of University.“Some of the remarks of investment and violation of protocol made by Academic Council members do not bring glory to the University or the Jindals. He (Dr Jindal) has made a decision, and we have to accept it. I will not persuade them to reconsider,” said Prabhu Dev.Stressing that there would be no further attempts towards School of Economics, he said, “Well, we know the mentality that persists in the University now. As for me, I will not take the initiative any more. Imagine what Dr Jindal must have gone through,” he lamented. When The New Indian Express asked Dr N Prabhu Dev who was responsible for the fallout, he said, “I believe a few Syndicate and Academic Council members played foul. There was an element of personal vendetta among a few who could not live with the fact that they were not stakeholders in Rs 100 crore that was coming towards the School of Economics.”“Henceforth, the University should learn to live with this mediocrity.” he said. “The University has lost its stand, respect and credibility. I don’t think anyone would come forward with such noble ideas again,” Prabhu Dev further added.
