New Delhi: The Indo-Pak tennis pair of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam ul Qureshi well have been well rewarded fo their impressive performance at this year's US Open where they made it to the finals of the men's doubles event.
The duo have jumped nine spots to a career best of number six in the world in the latest ATP doubles rankings.
The two lost to the number one seeds, Bob and Mike Bryan of the US 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (4-7) who captured their 65th doubles title and their third US Open crown.
Qureshi also made it to the finals of the mixed doubles event at Flushing Meadows where he and his Czech partner Kveta Peschke went down in straight sets to Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan.
Going into the US Open, the Indo-Pak combination were in red hot form. They reached the finals of the Pilot Pen tennis tournament just before the US Open where they went down to the Swede-Romanian pairing of Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau.
They also made it to the semi-finals of the Legg Mason tournament in Washington by upseting the Bryan brothers in the last eight.
Bopanna and Qureshi have been seen by many as the new face of Indo-Pak solidarity.
The duo plan to play a tennis match at the Wagah border as a goodwill gesture, and have taken up wearing sweatshirts with the slogan 'Stop War, Start Tennis.'
