TIRUPATI: The Srikalahasti police arrested four persons for throwing a countrymade bomb into the house of a fertiliser dealer in the town on April 2, 2010.
Disclosing this to newsmen at Srikalahasti on Monday, Tirupati Urban District SP J Prabhakara Rao and Srikalahasti DSP Abhishekam said Karthik, Nagaraju and Sekhar, workers in a welding shop in the town, got addicted to vices. They snatched a gold chain from a woman at Sindhu circle in Tiruchanoor in April, 2010 and pawned it for Rs 20,000 to meet the expenses of their luxurious lifestyle. As the sum was inadequate to meet their expenses, they hatched a plan to earn more money. In accordance with their plan, they procured a countrymade bomb from Penchalaiah on the pretext of using it to frighten pigs which are ruining the standing crops in their village.

Later, the trio made a phone call to fertiliser dealer Mahindar and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from him posing themselves as Maoists.

The SP lauded Abhishekam, CI Ravikumar, SI PCV Subba Reddy for solving the case.
