ERODE: Mysterious blood stains were seen on Sunday on a newly constructed building meant to house a government department. The building, construction of which has been stalled for past several years, is in the Erode taluk office premises. It will house the statistical department, sources said.Blood smeared palm imprints, found on the walls of the building on five places were indicative of a pooja held to ward off evil spirits, sources said. Animal sacrifices are an integral part of such poojas, usually conducted by private developers after completion of civil works. However, possible presence of such rituals, prohibited under law, at a government owned facility has raised many eyebrows. The building was earlier in the news after its contractors used river sand, seized by revenue officials on the charge of illegal transportation, for  building purpose. Though civil works of the building are complete, it has not yet got power connection.
