In a scene right out of the movies, two young IT professionals reportedly abused and slapped a man whose car they had hit, only to realise later that they had shown their ‘dadagiri’ to an IPS officer and land up behind bars.
The Jubilee Hills police arrested the two youngsters working with HSBC who allegedly manhandled the SP rank officer, Srinivas, who is posted in the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
It was around 10.30 p.m. on Friday when the officer stopped his Maruti Swift at the signal located near the KBR Park. Seconds later, a cab in which the two IT professionals were travelling pulled up beside the officer’s car and in the process, grazed his vehicle. When Srinivas got out to check, he saw scratch marks on his vehicle.
Furious, Srinivas reportedly entered into an argument with the cab driver, telling him he should have been more careful. Even as the argument was going on, the two IT professionals - Parthasarathy Reddy and Veera Kumar - intervened. A heated argument took place and the youngsters reportedly abused and slapped Srinivas.
Sources said that the youngsters did not have the slightest inkling that they were dealing with an IPS officer and they left the place after the scuffle. However, Srinivas noted down the number of the cab and drove straight to the Jubilee Hills police station and lodged a complaint, D V Pradeep Kumar Reddy, inspector, Jubilee Hills said.
“The two youngsters behaved harshly and passed lewd comments when I was asking the cab driver about the incident. They also tried to attack me during the argument. It is they who were at fault as they hit my car and then went on to argue. I don’t know who they are. I later learnt that they are IT professionals,” Srinivas told Express.
