New Delhi: Congress high command Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday spoke up on the results of the Assembly elections, attributing the defeat solely to the unprecedented price rise prior to the polls in the three states.
Apart from that, Sonia Gandhi took time to criticise the BJP over its conduct in Parliament over the Quattrocchi issue, saying that they had just been trying to disrupt the Budget session.
The BJP on its part has reacted strongly to her criticism saying that they had expected her to at least mention Quattrocchi in her address.
"Her silence on Quattroochi was an evidence of her being guilty," senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
The BJP had been creating an uproar in Parliament, demanding to know why the information of Quattrocchi's arrest had been suppressed for so many days. They denied the charge that they were trying to disrupt the Budget session of Parliament.
"We expected her to say how Quattroochi's accounts in London were allowed to be defrozen," Malhotra was further quoted as saying.
"First the Congress came out with the Sachar report and now its supporters, CPI-M, have come out with a charter of demands for Muslims. All these moves are nothing but a show of rabid communalism," he added.
