The Bihar legislative assembly on Friday passed four bills amid pandemonium created by the opposition BJP members in protest against corruption charge levelled against its two former ministers by a JD(U) member.

Amid slogan shouting by the BJP members who squatted on the floor of the Well as soon as the House re-convened for business in the post-lunch session, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar introduced the Bihar State Public Archives Bill 2014, Bihar Police (Amendment) Bill 2014 and Bihar Fire Services Bill 2014, which were passed by a voice vote.

The Chief Minister's speech elucidating objectives of these bills went unheard amid the din as the BJP members raised noisy slogans against the state government prompting him to lay his reply for record of the House at the behest of the Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary.

Soon after passage of the three bills, the Panchayati Raj Minister Bhim Singh introduced the Bihar Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2014, that too was passed by the House by a voice vote.

The Speaker made repeated pleas to the protesting BJP members to resume their seats and they did so after squatting in the well for about 45 minutes.

Thereafter the Speaker made obituary reference to the departed Janata Party MLA Dineshwar Prasad before adjourning the House till Saturday.
